The HealtheSAVE (Stopping Abuse, Violence, and Exploitation) app is designed to help you recognize patients who have experienced violence, ask them sensitively and effectively about that experience, and refer them to appropriate services. The goal of the app is to reduce the occurrence of domestic violence and improve patient health outcomes. The app, which is based on the most current evidence-based medical literature, includes pearls information for the time-pressed provider to help recognize a possible victim of abuse during the office visit; recommended strategies for screening; a list of local resources and support services; access to in-depth information about abuse; how and why abuse occurs; how it affects patients’ health, and more. The app will continue to undergo development and refinement after release. Future versions will include information on dating violence, sexual abuse, child abuse, bullying, elder maltreatment, and the importance of adverse childhood experiences on lifelong health.
